About the farm

The farmyard

When visiting the farm, you will see a traditional, but fully working, Shropshire farm. Most of the buildings are around 200 years old and so the farm has retained a traditional feel.

Milking parlourIn 2011 we made the big decison to invest in a new milking machine. The old parlor was installed in 1964 when the Dixon family moved to Home Farm since then it has served us well milking aproximaly 2,350600 cows. After three years of researching and planning the differnt options of milking parlours and deciding on, should we expand the herd to gain better econimies of scale or should we stay with the same numbers but invest in the latest tecnology and give our cows the freedom to choose when to be milked. We decide that robots were the future and on the 7th December 2011 we milked our last cow in the 8 abrest parlour and started the robot.

Longhorn cattleThere are also many rare breeds of cattle, pigs, sheep and fowl.

Homemade cakesAfter visiting you might like to stop off for refreshments at our tearoom. We offer drinks and home-made cakes. We also have an extensive range of gifts and souvenirs to take away.

Playground We have a playground for children and sell bags of animal food to use around the farm. There are several picnic tables on the site, and dogs are welcome on leads. There is good access for disabled visitors.
